 Để vận dụng hiệu quả bạn cần nắm thật rõ cách sử dụng các từ này, các collocation liên quan, nắm rõ đặc điểm từng loại biểu đồ để có những từ đặc trưng phù hợp, tuy nhiên cũng đừng quên kết hợp các loại từ khác nữa.

Nouns: peak  trough  drop  bottom, fall, top,highest/lowest  point/level

ADJ and ADV: steep(ly)  sharp(ly)  steady/steadily  gentle/gently, dramatic(ally)")  high  low

Verbs: climb, plunge, level off, drop, fall, rise, mount

2. Các từ chỉ về TREND: trend, tend và tendency.

EX: Market  resedrchers are interested in identifying trends  in  consumption.

There  is a  tendency for consumers to follow fashions.

Young people in particular tend to follow the latest fashions.

3. Những thay đổi qua thời gian thường liên quan đến sự TĂNG, hoặc GIẢM:

- increase,  go up,  rise,  grow, expand,  double,  multiply,  jump,  climb,  gain,  raise,  accelerate,develop,  escalate

- decrease,  go down,  fall  drop, decline,  reduce,  shrink,  lessen, lower,  contract,  slow down,  deplete, diminish,  level  off,  remain/stay  the same/ unchanged/ steady/ stable/ constant, fluctuate,  vary

Phân biệt:

-  fall down: chỉ dùng cho vật hữu hình như a person, a vase.

fall: dùng cho vật vô hình như: value of the dollar

-  grow up: chỉ dùng cho người

grow: dùng cho các sự phát triển khác như a whole population, an economy

Lưu ý:

-Verb forms của các irregular verbs trên:(rise-rose-risen), (raise-raised-raised), (fall-fell-fallen), (shrink-shrank-shrunk)

-Arise và Rise có dạng quá khứ giống nhau, nhưng nghĩa hoàn toàn khác nhau.

-Cần phân biệt động từ nào là transitive và intransitive để dùng đúng hình thức bị động.
